Take the Lithium battery out for winter storage or not

Most LFP battery manufacturers will tell you that the battery should be stored at a 50-70% SOC. Also, most LFP batteries will have a BMS built into the top or side of the battery case. Most (NOT ALL) of the LFP batteries will have a built in temperature sensor for the BMS that will stop any attempt of charging if the battery temperature is 0 C or 32 F degrees. Storing them in below freezing shouldn't be an issue as long as the BMS prevents trying to charge the battery. You should also find out the minimum storage temperature range from the battery manufacturer and if your location does exceed that minimum temperature range. If there is ANY doubt, I would take the safe path of removing the battery and storing it in a heated location....but again, at a 50-70% SOC. LFP batteries do not discharge while storing like FLA or AGM batteries do.....there is a very minimal discharge, even over a 6 month period of time. Hope this helps.
